Hiroko Dodge, PhD

Professor of Neurology, Harvard University

Hiroko Dodge is a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Research Analytics at the Interdisciplinary Brain Center (IBC) at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to joining Harvard in 2022, she served as a Professor of Neurology and Co-Associate Director of the NIH-Layton Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Oregon Health & Science University. From 2009 to 2019, she also directed the Biostatistics and Data Management Core at the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center at the University of Michigan, where she held an endowed Professorship in Neurology. Over the past decade, Dr. Dodge has led a series of NIH-funded randomized behavioral intervention trials examining the impact of Internet-based social interactions on cognitive and emotional functions. She is the founder and CEO of the I-CONNECT Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating Internet-based social engagement for socially isolated older adults.Babak serves on the board of directors of the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), is a fellow of SPIE, an inductee of the XR Hall of Fame, and has received many recognitions, including the University of Michigan Bicentennial Alumni Award, IEEE CAS Society Industrial Pioneer Award, NSF CAREER Award, Rock Health Inventor of the Year, and MIT Technology Review 35 under 35. His work has been on display at the London Museum of Science and the Computer History Museum and has won Time magazine’s Best Invention of the Year twice. He was recognized by Ad Age as one of the 50 most creative people in the United States.
